This month in REJINA Diaries, we’re spotlighting Regine, our visionary Creative Director. With her obsession with uniform aesthetics, Regine is the force behind REJINA’s signature preppy-meets-rebellious look.
From her journey into the fashion world to the inspirations and everyday moments that shape her creative process, Regine offers a glimpse into her world in this candid and inspiring interview.
To start, do you have any nicknames?
Not really, but people call me Regine, Gine, Jin or Jinnie. Also for some reason, my twin sister insists on calling me Jimbo
How would your friends describe you?
The wildcard. I have a habit of making impulsive decisions, but somehow they (mostly) work out like magic.
What’s your guilty pleasure TV show or movie?
Gilmore Girls. Rory’s obsession with academics and always being prepared is the exact energy I want REJINA wearers to have.
What’s your go-to comfort meal?
Mala noodles. The spicier, the better.
What does a day in your life as the Creative Director of REJINA look like?
A mix of sketching, production, meetings and the occasional dramatic stare into the void. Some days are productive, others are just me convincing myself I have everything under control.
Balance.
What’s your go to outfit when you’re rushing out the door?
My Ada Overalls. I could be wearing a pajama top underneath, and it would still look like I made an effort.
What’s the piece from REJINA you’re most proud of and why?
The REJINA Rosette Tie. It took forever to perfect the final sample, but it was worth it. I love how it captures the essence of a classic school uniform tie. Traditional, manually tied, but with a Rose twist.
Plus, the fact that it’s handmade with crochet makes it even more special. All credit goes to the incredible women in accross the Indonesia who bring it to life.
How do you want people to feel when they wear REJINA?
Like they’re back in their school days, ambitious, slightly rebellious and ready to take on the world. Bonus points if they feel like the main character.
What’s your creative process when designing a new piece?
Trial and error. Keep sampling, keep combining, and eventually something clicks. If not, try again.
Where do you turn when you’re in need of inspiration?
I step away from work. Travel, people-watching, romanticizing my life in cafés, anything that reminds me that the world exists outside my laptop.
If REJINA had a soundtrack, what songs would be on it?
Anything by The Marías—she’s effortlessly cool and just the right amount of romance. Also, Men I Trust because their music feels like walking through a dream.
What’s your favorite way to style a necktie?
As a necktie, a bag charm and (shoutout to my genius customer) a headband!
Any dream collaborations for REJINA?
We’re currently working on a REJINA x perfume brand collab (yes, you heard it here first). But in the future? I’d love to explore collaborations beyond fashion, new perspectives keep things exciting!
What’s the most unexpected thing that inspires your designs?
Harvest Moon. Yes, the farming game. I’ve played every version (NDS, 3DS, Switch you name it) and it lowkey shaped my love for workwear and functional pieces. So if you’ve ever wondered why REJINA overalls exist, thank a pixelated farmer
If you had to wear only one color for a month, which would it be?
I love green but let’s be real, I’d choose black. Effortless and hides coffee stains.
If someone wanted to understand REJINA in three words, what would they be?
Youthful. Scholarly. Lasting.
